Carol Macharia

Carol Macharia, the CO-Founder and Executive Director of Light and Life Ministries, is a Social Entrepreneur, who is driven by her desire to build mission-driven enterprises whose objective is to solve social, cultural, or environmental challenges. She believes that success is measured by bringing about positive societal impact and sustainable change in communities, by addressing one of the primary challenges in society resulting from lack of education. Through fundraising and collaborations with like-minded individuals and enterprises, her purpose is to make resources available to enhance education access to the communities found in the northern frontier of Kenya.

Carol Macharia, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), with a wealth of experience gained as a Financial Analyst at the United Nations and other Non-Governmental Organizations, provided expertise in result-based budgeting and financial management. While at the United Nations, she supported numerous programmes funded by donors and development partners, such as USAID, EU, DFID, SIDA, DANIDA, SWISS and Norwegian government, inter-agency partnerships with UNDP, UN Women, UNICEF, UNCDF, WFP and Habitat.

Carol Macharia is versatile, self-driven and result-oriented individual, with demonstrated ability to handle multiple funding, has great analytical skills and a good eye for detail. She interacts well with people of diverse cultures, possesses great interpersonal skills and has been credited on many occasions for making sound decisions using effective communication styles.
